A successful candidate should be committed to working with diverse student and community populations, and have an interest in collaborating with researchers in the College of Design, Construction and Planning’s (DCP) centers, including the Shimberg Center for Housing Studies, the GeoPlan Center, and the Florida Institute for Built Environment Resilience.Ĭandidates must have a Ph.D. The position involves (1) teaching four courses per year in the candidate’s areas of expertise, including a graduate/undergraduate housing policy and planning course (delivered in-person and online) and potentially an undergraduate general planning course (2) conducting research and publications commensurate with a tenure-track position and being entrepreneurial in obtaining research grants and (3) engaging in outreach and service consistent with the mission of the program. A preferred candidate would also bring professional experience, applied research techniques such as cross-cultural studies, mixed methods, or community engagement, and the ability to apply their work to Florida communities. We aim to enrich these areas and connect them with our strengths in planning for contemporary issues such as climate change, population migrations, and technological innovation. Specifically, we seek a colleague with expertise in housing, community development, and social justice in planning with the potential for interdisciplinary collaboration in planning-allied fields at UF, including landscape architecture, law and public policy, real estate, international studies, and/or public health. We expect the successful candidate to significantly contribute to our dynamic scholarly environment and enhance our emphasis on equity, diversity, and inclusion across the department’s activities.
